All dates are approximations and should only be considered as a reference.

You’ve felt the signs for a few days and you’ve got yourself a home pregnancy test. Now you’re looking at the results – POSITIVE!

The next big question you will have is to find out when you are due, and you can use our handy pregnancy calculator to calculate your due date.

How can you calculate your due date?

Typically, the most effective way to calculate your due date is to count 40 weeks from the first day of your last monthly period. The average cycle is 28 days. So our due date calculator uses both the date of your last period and the length of your regular period cycle to quickly work out your estimated due date.

You could also pinpoint your due date based on the date of conception, if you know the exact day of your ovulation. Conception is usually 2 days after ovulation. And your due date is estimated to be 38 weeks after conception.

Will your baby be born exactly on your due date?

According to research, only 5% of babies are born on their actual due date. So even the most accurate calculations cannot offer you the certainty of your baby being born on a particular day. It’s most likely that your baby will be born in the few days either before or after your estimated due date, sometime between week 37 and week 42.

You’re pregnant. What next?

It’s time to schedule an appointment with your ob-gyn who will probably do a blood test to confirm your pregnancy. During your first pregnancy scan, which usually takes place between 10 – 14 weeks, you are more likely to be given a more precise due date, based on the size and development of your baby.
